We needed a new vacuum and my husband didn't approve of the one that I brought home. He did extensive research and bought this one. What a mistake. I tried to like it, truly I did, but no matter how hard I tried, I hated it.Pros:It really does suck up the dirt. And the attachments are conveniently located on the machine.Cons:The thing weighs a ton. It's seriously heavy. And I work out regularly. Lifting it upstairs, or up on top of the dogs beds actually requires putting your back into it. No good for doing a quick vacuum. The filter gets dirty. Of course the filter gets dirty, not shocked there (actually happy that it works), but where am I going to get a new filter every six months? and how does that compare to just getting some new bags for my Oreck? For this much money, I want the vacuum to self adjust to the height of the carpet / floor. Instead, this has a clunky switch that's a pain to move. It has like 6 different positions and if you don't choose right, you're rewarded with a horrible squealing sound of the beater bar tearing up your expensive area rug. Not cool. It's unwieldy in that it only goes in absolutely straight lines. No Dyson turning here. And combined with the weight of the thing, it sort of gets going. In other words, I've ended up ramming the legs on my expensive furniture on a number of occasions. Even after I was already aware of the risk, you just can't get the thing stopped like you think you'll be able to.My take:This would be a great machine for vacuuming out empty homes that you're preparing to stage, sell or rent. No furniture, no turning, just get the big, giant, empty open space (with just one flooring type, so you don't have to change the height thing) clean.End result:I've contacted the company for a refund, so we'll see what happens.I bought this for our church. The Good: it ran relatively quiet. It sucked debris very good, on bare tile floor and carpet, easy to use, nice long hose. The OK: A little difficult to re-attach the dust cup -- not that big a deal. The Bad: After having it one month someone, not me, vacuumed up a few pieces of shattered safety glass. It now sounds like a lawn mower. A Vacuum repairman told me although called a commercial, it really isn't. He said the brush roller was damaged and it was not part of the warranty. I guess it makes sense a hollow wood roller isn't as durable as the old steel ones. You would think they could take a little beating though, since it is "commercial".The price is highly competitive with other, more heavily advertised, bagless cyclonic vacuums. Assembly was simple. It's easy to use and very, very effective. It's lighter than many but heavier than some. Still, it picks up a great deal of dirt, especially pet hair, is easy to clean--including the two filters--and exceeds the performance of our previous lightweight bagged upright substantially. Included tools are easy to set up & use, though the flattened end of the crevice tool should be longer. Overall, it's an excellent product that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.I have only had the vacuum a short time, but allready it has shown its worth. It is lighter than I expected and easy to use. there is no diconnecting and reconnecting of hoses to use the wand, you just pull it out and use it. The suction is excellent. the amount of dirt removed from an area that I had just vacuumed with our old vacuum was very telling. I would recomend it to anyone. only the price was a little daunting. After about a dozen uses of 250 sq ft one of the wheels fell off. Found the c-clip that holds it on & made a self repair. The inner plastic bushing got buggered up a little when the wheel exited the vehicle, hopefully it will be ok. For a vacuum over $200 you'd think it would be better engineered and/or assembled. Seems to have pretty good cleaning capability other than cheap construction. The best vacuum I have ever owned! It's light weight, easy to maneuver and it really picks up the dirt, dirt I don't even know it's there until I look at the canister. This vacuum was recommended to us by the man who came to clean our carpets. I had already vacuumed but he insisted on using his before shampooing our rugs. I couldn't believe the dirt in his canister. He highly recommended this vacuum, which is the only one he will ever use. He helped us order it, too. I am now a vacuumholic. I love, love to vacuum. If your looking for a great, reasonably priced vacuum, this is the one for you.I thought it was nice when it arrived but my janitor said she didnt like it. I didnt ask why because she wont stop talking if given a chance to complain. Updated on 9/4/12: Now I know why - it broke down after just 45 days and our request for return was denied by the seller. I'll need to find someone local who can repair our new vac. The problem is the devise that diverts the suction between the hose and bottom is stuck on hose mode.love this vacuum. My previous one finally after about four years of really hard work gave out so I bought the same one again and am looking forward to another hard working four years or more.
