Did a litte research to start cutting my own hair to save a little money in the middle of this crazy economy. These clippers are wireless and easy to use. It came with all the guards you would need and the battery life is amazing. I only charge it every two or three cuts. It feels comfortable in the hands as well. I'm left handed, so I'm thankful for this.Perfect trimmer to cut hair yourselves. Due to my life sometimes passing without benefits of civilization during 3-4 months this trimmer rescue me to be not like a wild man. What you need is 5-10 minutes and mirror. This Wahl clipper came in with broken 19mm adjuster. The clipper does not sound loud. It feels light and good to hold. I have not used it on my hair yet so cannot attest for battery life and usability.its a little loudNote: I am not a professional, but an at home user wanting the benefits of pro level equipment. These clippers have plenty of power, which is not a surprise considering it’s the same clipper internally as the wahl cordless magic clip and cordless sterling 4, both highly praised by professionals. I used this primarily as a beard trimmer to maintain a short stubble style beard under 3mm for which it worked perfectly. My only complaint with the designer is the build quality, it’s mostly plastic and does feel a bit cheap but nothing that is a dealbreaker for me, the magic clip and sterling share very similar plastic bodies. This was only an issue for because of the noise the plastic top housing made sometimes when adjusting my grip or holding it a bit tighter, the body would creak and make noises as the plastic moved around. Again not a deal breaker but spending around $80 you’d hope this wouldn’t come up. For transparency I returned this item not for this reason but wanting a different style clipper and have now returned to the cordless magic clip, and the magic clip at least initially doesn’t creak and make the noises I experienced with the designer. But the price difference I feel for most people will make up for this.ALSO anyone noticing hair or signs of use when first receiving wahl clippers, there is a notice packaged with the user manual that very clearly explains the quality control testing that is likely responsible for many of these negative reviews. This is not deny that there may be cases of buyers receiving repackaged returns, but I suspect many see residue from Wahl QC testing and assume they received used clippers.I have male pattern baldness. Few things irked me more then going to the barber and paying to get my hair cut. I swear I think they'd stand behind me and clip the scissors together a few extra times just so I'd think I was getting my money's worth. Five to ten minutes TOPS and I'd be out the door having paid exactly as much as the hairy schmuck in the chair next to me - took 2 or 3 times longer to cut HIS friggin' hair! So, I'd previously bought a Braun Head & Beard trimmer and started cutting my own hair. It was cheaper and lighter and smaller then these trimmers. It wasn't bad but the battery life wasn't great and they didn't have great power, I had to go over everything repeatedly to get everything cut evenly. Sometimes I had to plug them back in to finish the job. They also didn't do a great job of trimming the back of my neck closely. These trimmers are better in every way. I use the #1 guide with the trimmer set to zero gap and buzz everything down in record time! Cuts evenly and quickly. I use a neck trimming guide, "Quality Time Neck Hair Line" (purchased here on Amazon) to finish up the back close enough to shaving close to call it a wash. Overall I couldn't be happier. I cut my own hair every 2 or 3 weeks or so and have only recharged this thing a few times - the battery seems to last forever. If you're in my situation, don't compromise like I did and struggle with a cheaper pair. Get what the professionals use and never pay for another haircut again!I just got the cordless Designer clippers. They came charged and are light and easy to handle. My only complaint so far is that these clippers are impossible to zero gap. The configuration of the screws that hold the blades in place keeps me from being able to bring the blades to a zero gap position, so another set of clippers is necessary to bald a fade. I looked for videos showing how to zero gap these, but the only real solution was to change the blades out to blades from a different set of clippersSo this is the second Wahl cordless designer clippers I purchased within the last year. I bought them first about 10 months ago and I needed to replace them already but I'm still giving 4 stars. The reason I had to replace them is because the charging port somehow got messed up and I can't get them to charge. But when they did charge, I loved them! I love that they are rapid recharge and they never died on me once! (Until the charge port messed up). I cut on average 15 to 20 haircuts a day and so the battery life and rapid recharge was fantastic. They are a little loud at first but they are so light weight that I literally cannot use any other clippers without it hurting my arm and or neck or back. I have been cutting hair for years now and last year I pinched a nerve in my back, these were the only clippers I could use. I am paying a little more now than before but it still beats the hell out of paying 200 or more for other cordless ones. I don't love love that I only got 10 months of use out of them but again for the price and how they saved my back, I'm not really that upset about it. I hope this helps!Amazing clipper. The silent yet strong motor cuts through hair like butter. Very long run time. It's much like the magic clipper.Love this one. Amazing investment.Perfect
